Our Madrid office hosted its third HL BaSE Catalyst pro bono workshop on 29th May. Our Spanish lawyers were joined by lawyers from Amazon and Maxam to advise social entrepreneurs on IP issues (compliance policies, data protection, patents, user liability), corporate matters (contracts), financial (loan contracts) as well as real estate (rental agreements) and regulatory issues (public tender/public sector contracts).
The event was conducted by our Madrid office Citizenship Partner, José Luis Huerta, and Unltd Spain, a foundation that promotes social entrepreneurship by assisting and financing social and environmental impact projects. The event counted with the participation of 15 Hogan Lovells lawyers and 4 in-house lawyers that provided advice to the following social enterprises:
Green Urban Data a company that contributes to the adaptation to climate changes of the cities by developing software to facilitate the decision-making process and the prioritization of strategies against climate change. They use environmental intelligence to build up healthy cities.
De Piso en Piso is an Spanish on-line platform where renters and landlords get in touch through a collaborative model by which you are rented a room or a house at a lower price market in exchange for specific tasks such as looking after the kids or pets, teaching languages or keeping elderly people company.
Geko Navsat is a company which develops localization and navigation solutions based on an advanced knowledge and application of Global Navigation Satellite technologies (GNSS). For this purpose, they have created "Blind explorer", a mobile app that provides accurate and reliable personal navigation solution to guide people with visual impairments by using sensory interfaces (free hands/eyes/mind) to improve their autonomy, safety and experience.
