HL BaSE have been shortlisted at the European Tech Awards for Legal CSR Innovation in relation to our work on Migrasure.

We partnered with Generali Foundation/The Human Safety Net and social enterprise Ninety to facilitate Migrasure to offer housing solutions which are critical to the effective inclusion of migrants and refugees. Migrasure aims to offer a suite of digital insurance products that help refugees get private rented accommodation. By mitigating the risk and reducing barriers for both the migrant or refugee tenant and the landlord, it allows prospective tenants to pay a monthly premium as opposed to a large lump sum deposit to access a private accommodation. The project thus increases the landlords' willingness to enter into rental agreements with refugees.

Two thirds of refugees in Europe struggle to get housing due to lack of savings, the absence of a credit history, and no guarantor. Simultaneously, landlords struggle with offering housing to refugees as they need certainty of rent protection. Refugees want to work but often find it hard to because of the lack of a permanent address, which imposes costs on social housing budgets. This work is part of our wider focus to support social enterprises providing social services to refugees.
