Mark Cheng – Ashoka

Mark Cheng is Managing Director of Ashoka, the global network of the world's leading social entrepreneurs, where he heads up Ashoka’ team in East Asia, based in Hong Kong. Since 1980, Ashoka has elected more than 3,500 social entrepreneurs around the world into its prestigious Fellowship, providing them with stipends and support to help them scale up their ideas.  Mark is an experienced social investor who has helped raise over €250mn for more than 100 social enterprises over the past decade. He is the author of the 'Social Investment Toolkit', a guide for social entrepreneurs in how to raise finance. Marks is a former Director at Emerge Education, Europe's largest seed fund for education technology start-ups, and a founding member of the UK's first social angel investor network. He is a frequent writer and speaker on social enterprise and finance, and has been published in many journals including the Stanford Social Innovation Review.
