Golf in society - Anthony Blackburn
Golf In Society’s purpose is to transform lives through golf and does this by creating a network of golf venues around the UK that deliver inclusive golf sessions for older adults who have had a diagnosis of dementia, Parkinson’s, stroke or may be at risk of social isolation. As well as those who take part in the fulfilling golf sessions, their unpaid carers receive valuable respite. The golf programmes and holistic package of support has been designed with the beneficiaries of the service, ensuring people remain at the heart of the organisation.
Golf In Society has successfully delivered over 1,500 sessions across 15 venues.
Anthony, Founder of Golf In Society said:
“Golf is one of the few sports you can enjoy from cradle to grave, anytime, anyplace, anywhere. Giving older people the opportunity to discover golf and then inspiring them to enjoy it on a regular basis at their local club is why I love my job so much. To see people being sparked back into life during our golf sessions as well as giving them hope for a happier future is why Golf in Society is the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done in my life”.
